Make most out of the stairs for smaller spaces

Stairs would generally be quite inconvenient in small homes as they would take up extra space, however a smart use and efficient placement of the stairs can prove to be an added advantage to the home. The stairs in a small home should ideally be placed in a corner area so that least amount of space is occupied by the stairs. Another way to enhance the use of the stairs is to use the space below the stairs as a storage space in the form of a cupboard or a small closet. A new trend in staircase storage is by making drawers in the stair risers, these riser drawers can be used for storage of small things like shoes etc.
The stairs in a small home can also be in circular patterns which are known as spiral or curved stairs. These spiral or curved stairs are ideal for use in the home where the placement of the stairs is in the centre of the room.
